We couldn't resist, so to the V&A with the Goddesses :)

This is more of a 'walk-through' restaurant than a romantic sitting down affair....but we love it!

If you are looking for amazing quality seafood and sushi - this is probably the best the Western Cape has to offer - and we tested them again :)

Merle and Peet went with the Rock Shrimp Tempura, Caren had the famous 4x4 Sushi and I chose Salmon Miso Yaki (one of my favourite dishes so far on our gastronomic adventure!)

And of course...Mr Beck bubbled deliciously throughout....

Edamame....njammelam!

Woodlands Eatery

On a chilly winters evening in July, Caren invited us to a real neighborhood gem in Vredehoek, Cape town. Woodlands Eatery is that place when you do not want to do the dress-up thing, but want great food and a warm inviting atmosphere. They are best known for the wood-fired pizzas, but nothing we tasted on this delightful evening was not mouth-wateringly good :)

 Champagne truffles from Caren....had them as my secondi (dessert no 2!) when I got home!

 I had mussels and I no picture can tell me what the rest had - but from their faces I can tell it was good!

 This little chocolate fondant was worth breaking any diet for - the best!

Anytime, any place....spending time with each other is a blessing!

After revisiting Bizerca last month, as Peet missed out the first time, we all felt like this old timer :)
A stalwart in the Cape Town Restaurant portfolio, and a must for the foodie foursome!

Merle and I had met for a drink before dinner :)

Halllloooooooo!!!

Bubbles and a breadbasket - a great start. 

Salad with pear, Gorgonzola and pecans for a starter...yummm.

Peet had the Osso Bucco...

Cob and spinach for me....

Merle and Caren did the Fillet....rosemary, wine and garlic marinated for 3 days!

We are so blessed to have each other -  almost 2 years since we started having dinner once a month.

The Pot Luck Club

We have been anticipating this Goddess feast with pagan abandon! Merle made the booking in December 2013 and we could only secure our table at The Pot Luck Club end of February 2014.

Breathtaking views! I do not like being up in the air, surrounded only by glass. If it was not for the saliva-inducing smells which hypnotised me into the restaurant, I might still have been clinging to the steel door on the glass lift...

The fires in the open kitchen was only matched by a Cape Town heat wave and some hot flushes from our table!

 

 

Cocktails and our regular Graham Beck bubbly set the scene for the gastronomic expedition:
Little tapas and tidbits of every kind graced our table, which at times reminded me of a Greek or Roman festival. We had...

Beef Fillet
Pork Belly (according to the carnivores, the winner of the selection)
Avo Ritz
Fish Taco's
Tuna Shashimi
Oysters
Lamb Ribs
Artisan bread with Pesto & Olives
Baby potato's in chili & garlic mayo
Edamame

 

As exotic noises of appreciation rose from our table, Caren's finale of "Oh, my G*d" summed up the taste sensation in true "When Harry met Sally" style. The desserts were out of this world.

A pause is definitely required at The Pot Luck Club for any foodie worth their salt, but I would say once would do it. But as far as sharing food with these beautiful women go....once would never be enough!

Chandani....

 

 

Off the four Goddesses went, in search of some spice to add to our lives :)
Merle directed us to Chandani, an icon of Indian cuisine in Woodstock, Cape Town.

 

The food was comforting and hit all the right notes (even Peet who can barely tolerate chutney without breaking a sweat was happily dipping and savoring). This is a vegetarian's idea of heaven, as I was spoiled for choice, whilst the girls settled for a korma, a rogan josh and the like, I had my favorite green lentil dahl with peas. We shared a bread basket which contained various types of roti, naan and paratha...I am salavating again!

They do not have an extensive wine list, but are happy if you bring along your own tipple of choice - Peet spoiled us with our fast favorite bubbly, Secret Garden Brut MCC. Other than that, the food was spot-on authentic Indian, and much more affordable than the average restaurant in Cape Town.

Another amazing night, filled with unconditional love, sharing and caring.

The Bungalow on Camps Bay

 

Our last Gourmet Goddess dinner for 2013 arrived with a sultry sunset over Camps Bay on the Atlantic Seaboard. People hangin' here are uber trendy and I must confess instead of making me feel part of the "in" crowd, I felt like a foreigner on my own stoep.

 

 At least I was in seriously sexy company :))

And Caren was in one of her "bring-it-on" moods which meant she was seriously funny - and many a truth was spoken in jest.

 

The Goddesses still standing after a harsh 2013.

 

 

 Little tokens of love...our excuse for sharing gifts. That's our story and we are sticking to it!

Starters included sushi, mussels, tempura prawns and grilled calamari - all very moreish.

 Cheers!!!

 

 

Mains included Chicken fillet for Peet, Kingklip for Merle and me and Salmon for Caren.

 

 

The dessert included rich chocolate browny and ....for the life of me I cannot remember the other one we shared. Maybe indicative of the dinner: If you want to be seen with the trendy crowd and can tolerate sloppy service and middle-of-the-road food, the Bungalow is your place.

Oh, and we had copious amounts of Graham Beck Brut, which went down a treat. As always, we can probably meet in the dessert and we will still have a marvellous time - but monthly dinners with dear friends, what a lovely excuse to see each other...often!

May 2014 be filled with love, light, health and abundance.
